RYEDALE OPEN SHOW 2019 REPORT

A REPORT ON THE RYEDALE AQUARIST SOCIETY OPEN SHOW 2019
Text and photographs, unless otherwise credited, by Dr. David Ford
On Sunday 28th April, 2019, the Ryedale Aquarist Society held another of their popular Open Shows and Auctions in the beautiful setting of Kirby Misperton Village Hall.
The Open Show drew a total of 161 entries with fishkeepers from Bradford ADAS, Aquatics+, Hartlepool A.S., Ashby Fishkeepers, STAMPS, AAGB, Otley A.S., Southend & Leigh A.S. Sheaf Valley A.S, the Derby Facebook Cichlid Group and Ryedale A.S. itself bringing along their best fish.

YAAS ‘A’ Class Judges Mick Price, Edward Cheetham and Patricia Jones are pictured here judging Classes

Here are some more of the many beautiful fish which appeared on the show benches.  Photographs by Steve Grant.

When the Auction began, an audience of well over 100 people filled this section of the hall.  As a number of local people had come along to view the fish exhibits, and get a taste of what was happening during the day, an audience of just over 70 people (some of whom had travelled from as far away as Cumbria and Preston) stayed for the full duration of this part of the event.  Auctioneer Steve Jones and his team did a good job with the 20 ‘lots’ to auction.  On our left you can also see the Fishphilosophy trade stand.  Photograph by David Marshall.

As we can see from the photograph the Edward’s family were both surprised and delighted to take home the first prize in our Fish Card competition.  Photograph by David Marshall.

Finally, Open Show Secretary, David Marshall, asked me to thank the Ryedale A.S. members, the Nelson family, Steve Jones, members of Hartlepool A.S., members of STAMPS, members of OASIS and the Judges for all of their hard work.  Thank you to all who came along to join in the day, to all who brought fish for the Open Show, to all who brought Auction lots and gave sponsorship to the event.
